Psychotherapy works well for people who like to verbally communicate

Psychotherapy will allow you to talk through your problems, and the process that you are guided through, will help you understand what is going on. Many of life's problems are the result of simple cause and effect.

When you better appreciate how both yourself and other people think and how you are making decisions, you will be much more able to create the change you desire.

For example: It may be that a woman raised in an environment where her mother was abused either mentally, emotionally or physically by the father suddenly realizes that she herself is following in the same patterns, attaching men who abuse her. Most people are not aware of how children model their parents and take on their beliefs and values about relationships. 

Unfortunately and unconsciously she will end up attracting people into her life that are likely to have history repeating itself over and over again.  A person raised with parents or carers who have strong personal boundaries of what is acceptable and what is not normally have learnt how to nurture themselves and others with balanced life skills. They are much more likely to maintain personal boundaries as they themselves mature. 

It is simple to change, although it may appear or feel more complicated when it is you that is in the situation. It is new ways of thinking and reacting that are normally called for.

Everyone is the product of their experiences and what they have learned. Humans are learning creatures, some of what is learned is excellent and unfortunately some is not.
